Kind Words

“Every day I find an email from a website designer or branding specialist lurking in my inbox.  And every day I delete these emails without even opening them. I had a website, built by my brother, that was functional and enough for me.  Most of my work comes via word of mouth anyway...from other moms, former or current clients, pediatricians, manual therapists and midwives.  I did not see why I needed to spend money to change my internet presence or my "brand".  Did I ever even have a "brand"? 

That was until Yvonne Yiu's email landed.  For some reason, this one I opened, early in the morning before my coffee!.  I was not even remotely thinking of a new website, yet almost instantly I knew I had to hit reply and get to know this person. On a whim, I wanted to hear what SHE had to offer. 

Little did I know that Yvonne was about to gently, patiently and very skillfully coax me from my comfort zone of limitation and stuckness to a website that speaks to me, of me and for me, a website I could never have imagined without her.

After meeting with Yvonne on Zoom, the process began.  She had lots of ideas about design and color that would come together to represent me.  She asked the right questions and made me think deeply about my practice, what I offer and how to present that to the world.  She asked me to write, so I wrote.  She made suggestions that did not all initially resonate with me but as we worked together over the course of four weeks, I came to see that she really knew what she was doing.  I started to trust her to guide me.  She helped me to think about my practice in a different light and she crafted a truly beautiful website for me.

But her work did not stop with a website.  She patiently took me step-by-step through changing my domain and web platform, she created stationery for me with my new logo that she designed and taught me about Canva and Google Workspace.  She made a post for me to announce my new website on social media.  And I know that she's there for my mini breakdowns when I can't get past a tech issue.  She's a hand holder and a gentle guide.  She's also incredibly skilled, organized and efficient.

I'll never know exactly why her email resonated with me but I like to think that her gentle energy spoke to my bleary-eyed self that morning.  I am so grateful that I reached right back to her and that we got the ball rolling right away.  I am now the proud owner of a beautiful Yvonne-designed website and I could not be happier!”
